Republican
candidates wasting their time
Editor:
"There he goes again," Al Gore that is. Seven
years ago and three years ago, he promised to save Medicare,
Medicaid, education and the environment. To date, his
administration hasn't delivered on a single promise. Now he
is pandering to labor unions, teacher unions, minority
groups, and senior citizens with the same old promises. He
fails to acknowledge the positive effect that the Republican
"Contract With America" had on our continuing
prosperity.
The Republican candidates are wasting their time in
promising tax cuts as their major campaign issue. There is
nothing wrong with reviewing all of the proposals made by
the presidential candidates, (what convinced the voters to
vote for each candidate) and adopting the best solutions as
their own. The authors have no copyrights in their ideas and
they are in the public domain.
For example, Al Gore's seven-year promise to protect
Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, (Hillary's health
care reform), Bill Bradley's health insurance proposal and
John McCain's campaign finance reform, combined with George
W. Bush's tax relief, additional funds for quality
education, and welfare reform, all combined would truly be
"Compassionate Conservatism."
