PROFILE:

     GIW is part of the KSB Mining Group.  GIW has designed pumps and systems for almost 90 years. GIW has two manufacturing facilities in Georgia with approximately 400 employees.  The largest pour capacity of 50,000 pounds (22,000 kilograms) yields a finished casting of 33,000 pounds (14,400 kilograms).

     GIW uses the latest technology in casting and equipment. Engineered drawings are taken from paper or computer to reality in their own pattern shops. Replicated castings in wood, aluminum or plastics are engineered using perfected techniques.  Molding operations include Alkyd, Furan, and Pep-set bonding systems in no-bake operations. This environment-friendly process and sand reclamation systems are used on all production lines. Daily sand testing provides information for statistical analysis that ensures superior mold and casting quality.

History:

     GIW Industries began as a small foundry and machine shop in Augusta, Ga., in 1891. In 1914, GIW began building slurry pumps.

     In 1892, Stockholders voted to change the company's name from The Perkins Manufacturing Co. to Georgia Iron Works Inc. In addition to the usual listing of saw mill machinery and ornamental cast iron, the product line by 1910 included mining machinery, fire hydrants and manhole covers. In 1914, GIW began manufacturing spare parts for the solids-handling pumps for the Florida phosphate fields.

     As a subsidiary of KSB AG of Germany, a global pump and valve manufacturer, GIW Industries has the infrastructure to supply worldwide. GIW is part of the KSB Mining Group.
